We’re going to examine another herbal action today: immunomodulating
Anytime you hear the word “immuno” you know it refers to having an effect on the immune system. Modulate means to regulate or adjust. So basically, immunomodulating means to regulate or adjust the immune system.
Don’t mistake this action for immunostimulant; these are two different actions on the same system.
Immunomodulators are herbs that have a positive effect on the immune system. This means it can cool or quiet down an overactive immune system (think allergies and autoimmune disease), while also regulating it to function at its peak.
Most immunomodulators can be taken safely over the long term because they’re not strong botanicals, but rather, they are building and nourishing.
