I’m convinced I may never run out of new things that pair well with basil. It goes with everything! Vodka, gin, tequila… ? Seriously though, it really is an herb of a zillion uses.
According to author and food columnist Dorie Greenspan in her Wall Street Journal Ode to Basil, it:
“neither steals the show nor fades into the background.”
This cocktail that really showcases the spicy goodness of basil, beautifully balanced by the earthy sweetness of pear and a bit o’ honey.
Ingredients
- 2 oz pear juice
- 1 oz honey
- 1-1/2 oz tequila
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 4-6 basil leaves
Instructions
- Muddle basil with tequila
- Add lemon, honey, pear juice and ice; shake
- For the rim: sugar and lemon zest
